Welcome

Oh hello!
I’m Elena, but you know me as The Sourdough Lady, and I’m so happy you’re here.

A little about me—I’m a sourdough enthusiast!! I bake and teach everything Sourdough. Now that my 3 kids are all grown up, I split my time as a snowbird between Minnesota and Florida.

Bread is life, and it should be made from the simplest ingredients. Unfortunately, many of the foods we buy today are packed with hard-to-pronounce additives, and food sensitivities are on the rise. I’ve always been an advocate for nourishing, gut-friendly food, and that’s why I’m obsessed with sourdough bread.

Sourdough is naturally fermented, made with just a few simple ingredients, and is fantastic for gut health. I thoroughly enjoyed studying the science behind it, and believe me, it’s not as complicated as people think! I’m here to teach you, simplify the process, and guide you every step of the way. My passion grew even deeper when my best friend, who loved bread but couldn’t eat gluten anymore due to sensitivities, found relief in sourdough. Now she eats as much as she wants with no issues, which only reaffirmed my belief in the power of sourdough.

Whether you’re just starting or looking to refine your sourdough skills, or thinking of giving up – don’t, I’m here to inspire, educate, and help you bake the best bread possible. Let’s bake great bread together!

Where this all began

I was on a road trip from Minnesota to Florida and stopped to visit my brother’s family in South Carolina. My sister in law served dinner with a freshly baked loaf of bread, it was the best tasting bread and I asked her for a recipe. She told me I would need a sourdough starter.. from that point on, I dove in researching sourdough, and found a starter that is 170 yr old for sale that used to be used in a San Francisco bakery. I had to get it.

5 books, multiple videos, and over 100 loaves later – I knew there was no going back. And so the sourdough journey has begun.
